１９８９年作者设计的后路脊髓前外侧减压术是在直视下施行的一种治疗颈椎病的手术，特别是对后纵韧带骨化（ＯＰＬＬ）所致脊髓压迫，此手术可同时解除脊髓和神经根的压迫症状。４年来治疗３０例，效果很好。作者用５０具成人尸体按此手术的方法及程序就手术野进行了解剖，对肌层的血供、椎弓板、椎管以及神经根和脊髓进行了观测，并用这５０副成人颈椎标本测量了椎间孔、椎间管、钩突及横突孔。除总结手术方法及临床病例外，作者并通过解剖观察提出手术时应注意的事项。
